Shehbaz’s nomination as PM fruitful only if allowed to serve per his vision: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: A senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, welcoming the decision by Nawaz Sharif to nominate Shehbaz Sharif as its candidate for the post of prime minister in next general elections, has said that nomination of Punjab chief minister as the next PM of the country will be fruitful only if he’ll be allowed to serve as per his vision and capability.

In an informal chat with media persons here at Punjab House on Friday, he said that as a political and ruling party, the PML-N was passing through a critical juncture of its history.

He said that in the prevailing circumstances, it was crucial to take decisions keeping all aspects in view through wide-range consultations.

The PML-N leader clarified that political forces can’t be run through tweets and tickers neither imposing non-political elements on political forces can improve their credibility.

Nisar said that he was not in favour of politics of clash but “we should be vigilant of conspiracies of political opponents and avoid indulging in non-related issues.”

He further stated that no political worker can even think to be part of any movement against the judiciary.

The former interior minister said that PML-N was not only a political but also a democratic party, and it was a matter of satisfaction for him that the freedom of expression it gives to workers is not witnessed in any other political party.

Nisar said he is affiliated with PML-N for the last 33 years. He said that as per his vision, in the prevailing circumstances, freedom of expression was needed more than ever.

The PML-N leader said he doesn’t consider a person a politician who hasn’t even contested the local bodies’ election, but holds a key political position. “Such elements have right of consultation in the political process but won’t allowed to impose [their] decisions,” he added.

Nisar suggested that keeping in view the prevailing situation, the party should draft the details of its four and a half-year performance and also chalk out future political and economic plan.
