Police official martyred in Jaffarabad fire exchange

QUETTA: A police sub-inspector was martyred and three others were injured in an exchange of firing between two dacoits in Tehsil Gandakha of Jaffarabad while two dacoits were also killed.

Nasirabad Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nazeer Ahmed Kurd on Friday confirmed the incident and said that acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO Raheem Bakhsh Marri conducted a raid at a place and dacoits opened fire at them.

SHO Marri was martyred and three others sustained wounds in heavy exchange firing between the police and the dacoits, he said. The bodies and the injured were rushed to nearby hospital for medical aid. The two dacoits including proclaimed offender Zulfiqar Zulfi were also killed in a retaliation.

According to report, both the dacoits were involved in kidnapping for ransom and other notorious criminal cases in Balochistan and Sindh. The police and the law enforcement agencies reached the site and cordoned off the area and started search operation to trace out alleged accused. Further investigation was underway.
