ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reserved decision on registration case of Milli Muslim League (MML).

Justice Amir Farooq heard the case. Petitioner’s lawyer Raja Rizwan Abbassi said that according to Article 17 of the constitution, every citizen has the right to take part in politics and to create a political party, adding that only the people have a right to rejecting a political party through votes.

The leadership of MML has fulfilled all the legal requirements of the ECP by submitting all the required documents, he argued.

Therefore, he added, the rejection of ECP is illegal and the allegations of interior ministry on MML are baseless.

He also said that Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) refusal to enlist a political party is against the law.

The court asked the attorney general about the leadership of MML if any of them was involved in anything illegal? The attorney general conceded to the fact that there is no such allegation on any of the officials of the MML.

Justice Amir Farooq, after hearing the arguments, reserved the decision.  MML’s Secretary Information Tabish Qayyum and several workers of the party were present there. They hoped that a decision based on merits of law and constitution of Pakistan would come, and posed full trust on the judiciary.
