Govt committed to eradicating polio virus in Balochistan: Zehri

QUETTA: Chief Minister (CM) Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, on Thursday said that the provincial government was committed to eradicating the poliovirus from Balochistan.

He said that joint efforts were also underway to eliminate such dangerous diseases from the province.

CM expressed these views during his meeting with the Focal person of the Prime Minister for Polio Eradication, Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq.

Provincial Minister Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, Chief Secretary Balochistan Aurangzeb Haque and the spokesman of Balochistan Government Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar were present on the occasion.

He said that incumbent government was cooperating with the health as well as other international agencies to save the lives of our children from the poliovirus at any cost whatsoever.

“Only one polio case in the province has so far been reported in the area of Zhob, and we are still investigating the matter,” he added.

He announced to take strict action against those found negligent during the polio campaign in the province.

He urged the parents to cooperate with the polio teams administering polio drops to their children.

Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq further said that Balochistan has been given the task to eliminate poliovirus, which is successfully going on.

She said that the Afghani people, including the nomads, who migrated to Quetta from Afghanistan, should also get their children vaccinated by the anti-polio vaccine, to avoid the spread of the virus.
