ISLAMABAD: The Senate Committee on Human Rights will take up the issue of a missing peace activist, Raza Khan, today.

According to the notice, the committee will also take up the bill on transgender persons for discussion.

On December 2, Raza Khan had gone missing from Lahore following a discussion session on the topic of extremism in context of a recent sit-in staged by religious parties at Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad and state’s subsequent capitulation to it.

Members from various civil rights’ organisations protested against the enforced disappearance of the peace activist, demanding that the state should play its role in his recovery.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) had earlier ordered the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Naseerabad Police Station to present missing peace activist Raza Mehmood Khan on Dec 22 in habeas corpus case.
