PTI won’t tolerate any delay in elections: Imran

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Thursday said that his party will not tolerate any delay in the election process.

“Governance chaos exists because of a political vacuum in Pakistan Today,” the PTI chief said in a tweet, maintaining that early elections are the only solution to it.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), following passage of the relative constitutional amendment, is duty bound to complete the process of delimitation of new constituencies as soon as possible.

The Senate on Tuesday approved the delimitation bill with 84 votes polled in its favour and only one, by Senator Kamil Ali Agha, in opposition.

Preferably, the process should be completed in three months, PTI chief added.

The National Assembly had passed the bill on November 16 with a two-thirds majority to consider the provisional results of 2017 census in the delimitation of new constituencies for the upcoming general elections in 2018.

Until its passage on Tuesday, voting on the said bill had been postponed five times in the Senate.
