KARACHI: Three teenagers were tortured by the police for allegedly teasing girls in the Police Lines area of the city.
After the incident, family members of the young men went to the police station to protest against those responsible.
One of the tortured teens said that the “Police came and picked us from our houses. All 15-20 men were in civilian clothing.”
The mother of one of the teenagers speaking with reporters accused the police of brutality. “I screamed and shouted when my son was taken away but I was pushed by the men.”
Ferozabad DSP Yaqoub Jatt speaking to media outlets admitted that he had assaulted the young men after receiving reports that the girls were being teased by the boys. “They were teasing our girls from Police Lines. I beat up a policeman’s son and two boys,” he said.
SP Jamshed Town, Dr Rizwan has sent a report of the incident to senior police officials, in which he held DSP Ferozabad responsible for the atrocities.
Acting IG Sindh Mushtaq Mahar has appointed DIG East Sultan Khawaja as the investigation officer for this case. The IGP has directed for a report to be submitted and action to be taken against policemen if they are found guilty.
