No comparison between performances of PML-Q, PML-N govts: Pervez Elahi

LAHORE: The senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that during his party’s government, the Ring Road Southern Loop was completed in five years, whereas CM Shehbaz Sharif has taken ten years in its extension project.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Parvez Elahi said, “When we started work on this project we had faced many difficulties, and despite this, no stay came against us from the courts, because timely compensation was paid to the landowners, work was started on the project after proper planning and transparency and public welfare were given preference in our projects.”

On the other hand, he said, “Two tenures of Shehbaz Sharif are about to be completed, but most of his projects are hanging in the air and have not been completed.”

He said that by starting development projects in southern Punjab and timely completing them, “We tried to eliminate deprivations of the region. But in ten years, Shehbaz Sharif has increased deprivation of the people of southern Punjab.”

He added that after ‘Jangla bus,’ Punjab’s funds were being utilised on Orange Line train.

He said that on any project of our tenure no corruption charge had been levied, whereas, in every project of CM Shehabz, record corruption has been committed.

He said that in five years, “We had given a number of projects of public welfare, including Rescue 1122, free education and books, health facilities, free medicines in emergency and computerised land record to the people.”
