LHCBA to send notice to Nawaz, family for provoking masses against judiciary

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has decided to send a legal notice to Nawaz Sharif and his family for provoking the masses against the judiciary.

In a statement issued on Thursday, LHCBA Secretary Amir Saad has said that Nawaz Sharif and his family should apologise for provoking the public against the judiciary, or be ready to face legal consequences.

LHCBA also demanded resignations of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah for their involvement in the Model Town incident, for which a seven-day deadline has been. If resignations are not received within seven days, lawyers will call a convention to decide the future course of action, said Secretary Amir Saad.

He also said that the lawyers are standing for Supreme Court and for rule of law in the country. He added that the chief justice of Pakistan does not need to give any explanations.

He also alleged that LHC registrar is not letting LHC chief justice work, adding that the registrar also lied to the Supreme Court’s chief justice as well as LHC chief justice over the Multan bench issue. He also added that the registrar is the central character in the conflict between the bar and the bench.

Finance Secretary Zuhr Butt said that if Nawaz launched a drive against the judiciary, they will launch a drive against Nawaz.

LHCBA president said that the judiciary’s judgement in favour of the government was considered good and the one against it was considered wrong. He also advised not to clash with state institutions as the state depended on it.

“The people wearing black coats [lawyers] will not let the integrity of the court be damaged,” he said.
