LAHORE: With Christmas just around the corner, preparations for the festival have peaked in the provincial metropolis and the rest of the country. Men, women and children are frequenting markets in the city to indulge in Christmas shopping.
In order to celebrate the day, falling on December 25, befittingly, members of the Christian community have started decorating their houses and churches with beautiful lights and colours.
Different events were also being held in the city where participants cut Christmas cakes and exchanged gifts with each other.
Government and semi-autonomous institutions have announced to provide pays to all Christian employees in advance, as well as taking steps to provide pensions to retired employees before December 25. This move would enable members of the Christian community to make full preparations for Christmas.
On the other hand, police and other security forces have adopted foolproof measures in the city to ensure that no untoward incident happened before or after Christmas.
