ISLAMABAD: Science, Technology and Defense Production Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, on Wednesday, said that they were focusing on building state of the art “Technology Parks” in the country.
“The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has taken a lot of initiatives to promote the culture of research and innovation in the country” he informed the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Under-Secretary-General, Dr Shamshad Akhtar.
In a called-on meeting here on Wednesday, the minister said that NUST and COMSAT were already pursuing this initiative and they would be happy if the South Asian office of UNESCAP provided technical assistance in these initiatives.
Dr Shamshad Akhtar appreciated the role of the ministry of science and technology in promoting research and innovation culture in the country.
She also ensured her organizational support to Pakistan to ensure better regional connectivity and socio-economic development for the entire region.
She asked the minister to provide the list of best researchers and scientists of Pakistan so that the UNESCAP could coordinate with them for the development of science and technology, not only for Pakistan but the whole region.
Science and Technology Federal Secretary Yasmin Masood and other senior officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) were also present in the meeting.
