IIUI to introduce special sports quota seats under an announcement made by the varsity’s president

ISLAMABAD: International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said Monday that he will introduce a special sports quota seats in the university. The president made this announcement while inaugurating the annual sports gala at the university.

On the occasion, the students demonstrated a colourful flag march at the football ground of the varsity’s men campus. In the opening ceremony of the 14th annual sports gala of the university, a number of events such as first-aid race, sack race, three-legged race and a 200-metre race were held in which the students, faculty members and employees also participated.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by vice presidents, deans, directors, students’ advisors, sports in charge and organising staff of the students’ advisor office, employees and a large number of students.

“IIUI is working to build an international level stadium to further polish the skills of university players,” said Dr Al-Draiweesh, adding that a proposal for including sports quota seats would be entertained on priority basis. He further said that the youth were the torchbearers of a bright future of the Muslim world, and they must be provided opportunities to take part in positive activities.

He stressed upon the students to work harder for the progress of the country, adding that the progress of Pakistan was the progress of the entire Muslim world.

Earlier, Dr Tariq Javed said that sports activities were as important as academic activities for the nourishment of young minds. He vowed to continue efforts for providing sports facilities to the varsity students to ensure that they remained healthy and bright.
