RCB issues 123 notices to owners of illegal buildings

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has issued notices to 123 property owners for illegal construction, while 17 illegal structures have also been demolished by the board.

Talking to reporters, RCB Spokesman Qaiser Mahmood said that several raids were conducted on the directive of RCB Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Saima Shah by Building Control department teams during the last 40 days, after which the owners of buildings constructed illegally were issued notices.

The staff concerned conducted raids in several areas of the city, including Marble Factory area, Dhoke Gujaran, Bhatta Chowk, Misrial Road, Quaid-e-Azam Colony, Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Dhoke Chaudharian, Afshan Colony, Peshawar Road, Chor and other areas. Building rules violators were served with notices as the RCB administration continued taking action in accordance with the law against illegal constructions in the Cantonment area.

The spokesman informed that 17 illegal structures were demolished as the owners of the properties had failed to get prior approval from the board. To a question, he said that over 78 building plans were approved so far.

He further informed that after taking solid steps in this regard, the revenue generation had also been increased as now the citizens were submitting their building plans to get formal approval.

The citizens should not violate the building rules, otherwise, stern action would be taken against the violators and no relaxation would be given to anyone, he warned.
