LAHORE: The Punjab government has allowed the use of drone technology in the agriculture sector to enhance the productivity of different crops.

Agriculture department sources said on Sunday that the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drone is a small aircraft and the technology could be used for applications of pesticides on crops, monitoring of weeds, pests and nutritional deficiencies, geographical surveys of crops, area and water resources besides research and development.

The people who are interested in the use of this technology could submit their applications to the agriculture deputy director of their respective area. He would refer all applications to the relevant persons in this regard.

After proper analysis, a no-objection certificate (NOC) would be granted specifying the area, time and duration for the use of drone technology.

A policeman might also be appointed with the operator of a drone at the time of flying.
