Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education to start from Dec 18

ISLAMABAD: First International Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education will be held under the theme “Impact of Quality Enhancement Practices” at Khyber Medical University Peshawar from December 18.

The two-day conference would continue till December 19 where national and international experts would share their experiences with students, an official of Higher Education Commission (HEC) informed.

The sub-themes of the conference would include good quality assurance practices in imparting knowledge, skills and research at HEIs, significance of feedback of the stakeholders focusing on employers and alumni.

Self-assessment reports in facilitating accreditation processes, challenges in implementation of QA processes, developing public confidence in higher education, impact of QA practices in building national economy, competing at international level for seeking standardisation of qualification framework and employment, and significance of ISO certification in promoting quality culture in HEIs.

The speakers scheduled to attend the conference, included Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) Special Representative Dr Heinz-Ulrich Schmidt, Khalid Hassan, Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center (QAAC) at University of Bahrain (UOB) Director Dr Bassam Al Hamad, and Professor Abbas Bazargan from University of Tehran, Iran,

The official said that the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Khyber Medical University was established in 2010-2011 and had shown excellent performance in the area of quality assurance at higher education level.

He said that this conference would provide a platform to the QECs managers, faculty members and stakeholders to contribute and participate in the event. National and international members of accreditation council would find this event appropriate for their experience sharing, the official added.
