CM addresses meeting from London through video link to review progress of clean drinking water program

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed a meeting at the chief minister’s office through a video link from London today to review the progress of the clean drinking water programme.

The chief minister said that drinkable water is the right of every citizen and the Punjab government has evolved a big programme for returning this right to the citizens.

He said that the programme of clean drinking water is a mega public welfare project and that the aim of provision of clean drinking water to the people is to save them against diseases and added that the North and South ‘Saaf Pani’ companies are working for the implementation of this programme.

The chief minister said that due to some elements the programme was delayed, however, now this delay is being redressed through speedy work. He also said that this programme is being implemented rapidly in all tehsils of Southern Punjab while work has also been started for its implementation in other tehsils of the province.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government has adopted an internal audit system in every project and also introduced the mechanism of a 3rd party audit for effective monitoring.

He said that this program will result in ensuring potable water to the masses. Planning and Development (P&D) chief secretary, P&D chairman, secretary to chief minister Punjab, anti-corruption  DG and other concerned authorities attended the meeting through a video link while the housing secretary and WASA MD participated in the meeting from Turkey through a video link too.
