KP Assembly passes elementary education bill

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly on Saturday passed The Elementary and Secondary Education Department Bill (Appointment and Regularisation of Services) 2017.

The service of about forty thousand teachers appointed initially on ad hoc have been regularised with the passing of the bill.

The House also passed a resolution asking the federal government for early merger of tribal areas in the province.

Speaking on a call attention notice, Member of Provincial Assembly and Awami National Party’s leader Sardar Hussain Babak said a special development package should be announced for tribal areas to bring it at par with the rest of the country.

Later, Speaker Asad Qaiser adjourned the session till 15th of next month.
