Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the daughter of former premier Nawaz Sharif, on Friday took to Twitter to criticise Supreme Court’s judgement in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan disqualification case.

Comparing the court’s judgement with the one that resulted in her father’s ouster, Maryam, in a series of tweets, said the bias of those demanding accountability has been exposed.

She also criticised Supreme Court judge Faisal Arab’s observation that Imran Khan’s case cannot be compared with that of (ousted prime minister) Nawaz Sharif (on a plea filed for his disqualification by PML-N’s Hanif Abbasi), and questioned why the respected justice felt the need for a clarification.

“Were you part of the Panama bench? Were you part of any hearing conducted against Nawaz Sharif,” the daughter of the ousted premier asked the judge in a pointed tweet.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court rejected the petition seeking the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, however, his party colleague Jahangir Khan Tareen was disqualified for life for being “dishonest” in his submissions before the judges.

Reacting to the three-judge bench’s observation that Imran Khan was not liable to declare offshore company Niazi Services Ltd in his 2013 nomination papers as he was not a shareholder or director of the firm, Maryam tweeted “but it was mandatory for Nawaz Sharif to declare his fictitious salary”.

In another tweet, Maryam said, “Now there are no reasons to doubt that Nawaz Sharif has been the target of any of the conspiracies, sit-ins and revenge in the name of accountability because only Nawaz Sharif is the real representative of the masses.”

“Today’s judgement has vindicated the notion that injustice has been done to Nawaz Sharif,” she tweeted.

“All curtains on partial accountability and revenge-driven accountability have been lifted today. It has been proved that Nawaz Sharif was the target while the iqama was just a smokescreen,” Maryam said in another tweet.
