Govt will continue its support for business community: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Friday said that the government will continue providing every possible support to the business community and ensure that they enjoy a conducive and business-friendly environment.

He was talking to a delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) headed by its President Zubair Tufail, who called on him here at the Prime Minister’s chamber in the Parliament. Special Assistance to the PM Haroon Akhter was also present during the meeting.

On the occasion, Abbasi said that all the chambers of commerce should come up with a comprehensive plan to seek the government’s help where required. He also asked them to share suggestions regarding increasing exports within a rational time-frame.

Matters pertaining to enhancement of Pakistan’s exports came under discussion. The delegation appreciated the government’s decision for adjustment of currency which they said would significantly help exporters.

The delegation also expressed optimism regarding the overall prospects of growth in the economy, as well as, revival of exports which were showing a robust growth of over 10 per cent, which were further expected to grow due to rupee adjustments against foreign currencies.

It merits mention here that the revenue collection by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had also posted a growth of over 22 per cent and it was expected that the FBR would be able to achieve its revenue targets.
