NEW DELHI: The BJP is set to retain Gujarat and win Himachal Pradesh, according to predictions by various exit polls on Thursday, reported Times of India.
A poll of six exit polls – TOI Online-CVoter, Times Now-VMR, India Today-Axis, News Nation, News 24-Today’s Chanakya, and ABP News-CSDS – predicts 119 seats for BJP in Gujarat, which is 28 more than the half-way mark. The Congress, according to the exit polls, will show an improved performance in the state, but still not good enough to dislodge the 22-year rule of the BJP.
The exit polls predict 62 seats for the Congress in PM Modi’s home state.
Other parties will only be able to muster one seat in the state. In Himachal Pradesh, the poll of the TOI Online-CVoter, India Today-Axis, ABP News-CSDS, News 24-Today’s Chanakya, and News Nation exit polls suggests, the BJP will win 46 seats, dislodging the Congress from power.
The ruling Congress, predictions suggest, will end up with 21 seats in the state. Other parties will be able to win just one seat, according to the predictions.
