KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that the country has changed forever after the disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

He was referring to the historic July 28 decision of the Supreme Court in which the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in the Panama Papers case.

Talking to the Karachi Bar Association, the PTI chief reiterated that a strong economy depends upon a strong system of justice and that progress is not possible until laws for rich and poor are the same.

He said that democracy only succeeds where there is equality between laws for rich and poor. He said that when Nawaz Sharif was dragged off into the court; it set a good precedent for the other corrupt people.

He stated that the former prime minister knows that a public office holder has to answer if his assets are beyond the known income sources, and he still has the audacity to say that no one should question him about his assets.

It was earlier reported that the PTI chief and Pak Sarzameen Party leader Mustafa Kamal agreed to meet in Karachi, according to reports.

Both the leaders discussed political developments in the country after the release of Model Town incident judicial report. They are reportedly expected to meet soon to share views on the possibility of forming a grand political alliance in the next general polls.
