Musharraf claims Nawaz considered CJP, COAS his slaves

DUBAI: Former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf has said that former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif wants authorities of the institutions to work as ‘slaves’ and that he (Nawaz) thinks of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) his slaves.

In a TV interview on Wednesday, he said that heads of state institutions were not school going kids or section officers who would ‘listen to you’ the entire life. Citing his ousting of then prime minister, Musharraf said that the military does not disturb the prevailing situation for no reason.

He warned that the military should not be messed with and be allowed to operate as it does. During the TV show, the former ruler heavily criticised the former prime minister and claimed that Nawaz Sharif has an issue that he (Nawaz) delivers orders that were deemed for wrong.

During his tenure as the military chief, he claimed that Nawaz Sharif ordered him to terminate two generals from services but he did not comply with the ‘wrong’ orders. He also claimed that former army chief Asif Nawaz Janjua was displeased with Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif attempts to dictate the force and complain of reaction later, the former president said. “He (Nawaz) got the army disgraced in Kargil issue,” he said while referring to the armed conflict between Pakistan and India that took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of disputed Kashmiri state.

The war is one of the most recent examples of high-altitude warfare in mountainous terrain, which posed significant logistical problems for the combating sides. It is one of the very few instances of direct, conventional warfare between two nuclear states – Pakistan and India.
