Chinese delegation visits Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore

LAHORE: Chinese Consul General to Lahore Long Dingbin’s wife Liu Li, along with Consular Attache Zhai Yinglin, visited the paediatric department of Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore on Thursday.

Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex Chairman and Dean Prof Dr Farid Ahmad Khan, members of the faculty, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff were also present on the occasion.

The Chinese delegation presented bouquets and expressed warm wishes for the children admitted to the paediatric ward. Mrs Liu Li expressed her satisfaction and appreciated the efforts for the provision of state-of-the-art treatment facilities to the children. A detailed discussion was also conducted regarding the health matters.

Speaking to the visiting dignitaries, Prof Dr Farid Ahmad Khan said, “We are proud of Pak-China Friendship. It is always higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans.”

He said that the Shaikh Zayed Hospital had been given the responsibility of providing healthcare facilities to the Chinese consulate adjacent to the Government of Punjab. In response, the Chinese delegates expressed their gratitude for Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Health Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah and Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex Lahore for the provision of excellent treatment facilities to the Chinese.

Dr Farid added that the Shaikh Zayed Hospital was the only public sector hospital in the province which had successfully completed more than 100 liver transplants and more than 800 kidney transplants.

“Recently we have achieved another milestone by conducting the first-ever kidney transplant of a 7-year old child named Zainab Javed,” he said, adding that the hospital looked forward to providing the facility of liver transplants to minors in the hospital with collaboration from Chinese experts.

He also said that the time had come to “look east instead of west” for the advancement of the medical discipline in the country, saying that he looked forward to starting exchange programmes between China and Pakistan.
