Traffic official injured by unidentified men in Karachi

KARACHI: A traffic police sub-inspector on Wednesday was wounded in a firing incident by unidentified people in the Liaquatabad area of the metropolitan, according to media reports.

According to the Central Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Irfan Baloch the traffic police official, named Irshad, was on his routine patrol near the Gujjar Nala in Liaquatabad when unidentified assailants shot him in the leg.

According to the injured official, the assailants opened fire at him when he signalled their motorcycle to stop. They reportedly also snatched the sub-inspector’s weapon before escaping the scene.

Irshad was shifted to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reportedly out of danger.
