LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) which was held at Istanbul on Wednesday.
According to a handout issued by the chief minister’s office, the chief minister was warmly received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Subsequently, a meeting was held between Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the issue of US President Donald Trump’s announcement of recognising occupied Bait-ul-Muqaddas as the Israeli capital was discussed, in addition to further expansion of Pak-Turk relations.
The chief minister also held a meeting with Palestinian President Mehmood Abbas.
The Turkish president and the chief minister strongly condemned the US announcement of accepting occupied Bait-ul-Muqaddas as the Israeli capital and termed it as adding salt to the injury of Muslims.
The Turkish president welcomed Sharif’s participation in the OIC conference.
