Punjab Police to induct officers through direct hiring after 19-year hiatus: report

LAHORE: The Punjab Police has decided to directly hire new officers after a 19 years hiatus. Punjab Inspector General (IG) has sent a summary to the provincial government for amendment in the police order, according to a report in the local media on Wednesday.

After this amendment, an advertisement for Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) will be released from the IG office.

Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) and constables will be promoted to the designation of Inspector after an exam of the PPSC.

The age limit to apply for these jobs is between 30 and 50 years and BA or equivalent level of education has been declared as mandatory to be eligible for the post.

The process of direct hiring was terminated after 1998 which will be now restored.
