Former military ruler and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief General (r) Pervez Musharraf said Tuesday that people were disgusted with the politics of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, and advised the Supreme Court (SC) to send the ruling government packing.

Speaking during a programme on a private news channel, the former president said that the incumbent government had dragged the country into chaos, while adding that the masses had rejected the politics of the PML-N. He opined that the present government should be sent packing at the earliest to save the country from political disaster.

He also said that if the government refused to step down, then the SC should intervene and dissolve the assemblies.

“The Supreme Court should find a constitutional way to overthrow the government,” Musharraf said, while adding that the apex court should empower the interim government to amend the Constitution.

Moreover, Musharraf admitted that he was ready to stand hand-in-hand with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on a container. “Such a scenario might not be possible if Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is also present there,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, the former president had claimed that people would vote in great numbers for APML and allied parties in the next general elections, adding that the PML-N would be completely rooted out from politics.

Musharraf also said that he would come to Pakistan soon and start electioneering for next year’s general elections.
