Funeral prayer of martyred Abdul Moeed offered at Ayub Stadium

LAHORE: Funeral prayer of 21-year-old Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed Shaheed has been offered at Ayub Stadium with full military honours and he has been laid to rest at the Cavalry Ground graveyard in Lahore, on Wednesday.

Lahore Corp Commander, Punjab Rangers Director General, Pakistan Navy Station Commander, Mayor Lahore Mubasir Javed and other prominent personalities attended the funeral prayer.

Moeed’s body was taken to his native village in Burewala, Vehari, last night and brought back to Lahore in the morning.

Sepoy Basharat, who also embraced martyrdom will be laid to rest in his native village in Gilgit.

The two officials were martyred in a terrorist attack in North Waziristan Agency, the (Inter-Services Public Relations) ISPR said on Tuesday. The ISPR said that Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat were martyred after terrorists fired on their vehicle from the surrounding mountains.

Moeed had recently graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Kakul, while Basharat had three years of military service, the ISPR statement added.
