PTI issues fact-sheet about ‘bogus’ development schemes in Punjab

  • Chaudhary Sarwar says rulers making excuses for delay in polls

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday issued a fact-sheet regarding ‘fraud’ development schemes in Punjab.

In a fact-sheet issued from the office of the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmood ur Rashid pointed out corruption in all schemes of the Punjab government including the yellow cab, youth loan, sasti roti, metro bus, orange train, PM’s laptop and the ashiana scheme.

He said that thousands of rupees have been spent on these flawed and fraud schemes apparently meant for the poor masses and billions of rupees have been plundered instead. He also raised concerns regarding the energy projects in Punjab which he said were actually a fraud.

He said that no one could expect anything good from the current rulers and demanded that a parliamentary committee comprising of treasury and opposition members should be constituted to maintain a check and balance on the financial issues in the uplift project which is riddled with corruption.

He alleged that the government was busy in hoodwinking the masses and called for all those responsible for the fraud schemes be held accountable.

Mehmood termed Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif the greatest actor of all times and sought a reply from him regarding the fraud projects. He proposed an open debate challenge and asked him to tell about any five successful projects of public welfare in the province.

Meanwhile, PTI core committee member and former governor Punjab, Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar has said that the corruption of PML-N is an assault on democracy.

“The corrupt politicians must be placed behind bars instead of corridors of power. Rulers don’t want the elections on time and are making excuses for a delay. The rulers have done nothing except looting, plundering, and squeezing the wealth of public exchequer,” lamented Sarwar while was addressing the traders’ convention in Iron market conducted by Alhaaj Bashir Ahmed.

PTI central leader Muhammad Madni, Zulfiqar Malik, Sana Ul Haq, and Mian Talha also attended the ceremony.

“The country’s debt has increased to 83 billion dollars. This is a failure because of the worst economic policies, bad governance and looting of a corrupt regime. The government is busy in making false promises with the poor and underprivileged masses,” said Sarwar.

The participants urged the government to take strict measures to ensure the economic protection of the native steel industry against all odds and constraints imposed by foreign countries and domestic factors.

The textile industry is succumbing to an economic fallout, minimization of production due to tax evasion, and unwise monetary and fiscal policies of the government.

“In 2015, the rate of regulatory duty on steel import was 5-15 per cent. Now, it has increased up to 15 per cent to 35 per cent which is the manifestation of crony capitalistic and anti-industrial policies of the government,” they said.
