PESHAWAR: The Peshawar University administration has rolled back its earlier notification regarding fee-hike in a meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Asif Khan on Tuesday. The decision came in the wake of the persistent protests by the students of the Peshawar University.

The administration readily accepted the demands of the protesting students, by deferring the increase in the tuition fees, which students believed was not affordable. The university administration announced that the de-notification will be issued soon. Earlier, students continued to boycott their classes and staged demonstrations outside the administration block of Peshawar University.

The students remarked that they are not being provided with many important facilities. They also demanded that they should be provided with important facilities including hostels for day-scholars, along with transport facilities for students living in hostels.

After no heed was paid to their demands, the students then moved the protest outside the office of the university’s vice-chancellor.
