Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima says she will start being more selective about the assignments she takes up and will not take off her clothes anymore for causes that aren’t worth it.
Lima shared a note a social media explaining her decision. Her note read that she is tired of all the “impositions” and “We ‘as woman’ can’t be continuing (to live) in a world with such superficial values, It’s not fair for us. Beyond fair, it is physically and mentally not healthy.
She added, “I want to change it, in the name of my grandma, my mother, and all her ancestors that have been labelled, pressured, and misunderstood.”
The note was captioned, “I had received a call for the possibility of filming a sexy video of me to be posted and shared (on) social media. Even though I have done many of this type, something had changed in me.”
She continued, “When a friend approached me to share that she was unhappy with her body, then it made me think…. that every day in my life, I wake up thinking, how do I look? Was I going to be accepted in my job? And in that moment I realized that majority of woman probably wake up every morning trying to fit in a stereotype that society/social media/fashion etc imposed… I thought that’s not a way of living and beyond that… that’s not physically and mentally healthy, so I decided to make that change….. I will not take off my clothes anymore for an empty cause.”
She hashtagged her note, “Embrace yourself; nature is beautiful; naturally sexy, and Love you.
Lima, a Brazilian model and actress, best known as a Victoria’s Secret Angel has been with the lingerie and innerwear brand since 1999. She has two daughters with her ex-husband Marko Jaric.
