ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday accepted a plea for a hearing filed by former principal information officer (PIO) Rao Tehseen, for seeking a promotion to grade 22 as earlier assured to him by the Establishment Division before the court.
The petition filed through advocate Qaiser Imam was fixed before Justice Aamir Farooq on Tuesday. The petitioner has stated that on September 14, 2017, the court had directed the Establishment Division to consider his promotion to grade 22, however, the Establishment Division did nothing.
The petition states that the Establishment Division had assured the court that it would consider the case of his promotion but it did not do so in the high-powered selection board meeting.
The petitioner contended that the attitude of the Establishment Division amounted to the contempt of court as it had backtracked from the assurance it had earlier made before the court.
The petition also stated that the meeting of the high-powered selection board was being reconvened on December 11, thus the Establishment Division should be directed to include his name in the list and he should be considered for a promotion in compliance with the court’s earlier orders.
The petitioner requested the court to order the Establishment Division to submit the meeting minutes of the selection board before the court.
The court has been pleaded to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the Establishment Division if any violation of the court’s orders is established during the hearing of the plea.
