‘Human rights protection imperative to establish civilised society’: report

QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Raheela Hameed Durrani Sunday said that the protection of human rights is of utmost importance in order to establish a civilized society, reported a local media outlet.

She was addressing an event arranged by the Ministry of Human Rights to mark the International Human Rights Day. She said that protection of basic human rights has been guaranteed in the Constitution of Pakistan without any discrimination adding that Balochistan government is now taking all possible measures to upkeep the dignity of citizens and protection of human rights in the province.

Talking about human rights issue in Kashmir, Palestine and Afghanistan, she said that the international community is immune to the massive human rights violations that are being reported in these areas and that that needs to change.

She also condemned the atrocities inflicted upon the Rohingya Muslims by Myanmar’s security forces.
