Establishment division’s high powered board meeting to be held on Monday

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is going to chair a meeting of the establishment division’s high powered board to promote bureaucrats of ranks higher than BS-21 on Monday.

During the meeting, cases of more than 30 senior bureaucrats, including the prime minister’s personal secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and Rao Tehseen, would be considered.

It is important to mention here that Principal Information Officer (PIO) Rao Tehseen was found guilty in the recent Dawn leaks.

However, the establishment division told the Islamabad High Court (IHC), on the latter’s enquiry, that the Dawn leaks could not affect Tehseen’s promotion.

In response to Tehseen’s application for promotion, the establishment division replied that his case would be considered whenever the next high powered board meeting was held.

Sources said that the officers being considered for promotion mostly belonged to the Foreign Office Group, Police Service of Pakistan, Secretariat Group, Information Group, and Pakistan Administrative Services and included Jalal Sikandar Sultan, Shahid Mir, Rizwan Ahmad, Shahrukh Nusrat, Fawad Hasan Fawad, AD Khawaja, FIA DG Bashir Memon, Mehr Khaliq and Rao Tehseen.

It has also been mentioned that during the last high powered board meeting held in October, the prime minister had promoted several officers to BS-22. However, Rao Tehseen’s case was not considered in the last meeting due to misinformation about him being passed to the prime minister.
