Govt committed to providing quality healthcare: minister

 

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that the government is committed to providing modern health facilities to the people of Punjab for which maximum resources are being spent.

He said that a huge allocation of Rs260 billion for health sector by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is the reflection of his people-friendly policies. He added that revamping of Kasur District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital will be completed very soon through which latest health facilities would be available at local level.

The minister stated this while visiting Kasur DHQ hospital accompanied by Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan. Kasur Deputy Commissioner Saira Umer and other senior officials and notables were also present on the occasion.

Imran Nazir also inspected the newly installed CT scan machine in the hospital and said that Punjab government is spending huge funds for the provision of health facilities. He added that emergencies of the hospitals are being improved and provision of free medicines has been ensured in the hospitals.

He further stated that on the direction of the chief minister, free ambulance service has been launched for pregnant rural women. Moreover, free diagnosis, treatment and provision of medicines for hepatitis patients are also being ensured.

The minister said that launching of mobile health units, revamping of district and tehsil headquarters hospitals, training and capacity building of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff and their availability in the hospitals are the few historic initiatives taken by the present government.

Khawaja Imran Nazir also said that healthy people play a very important role in economic activities of the country and create a healthy society. Therefore, the government is paying special attention to the development of health sector for which historic budget has been allocated.

The minister urged the doctors, nurses and paramedics to discharge their duties with the spirit of humanitarian service with honesty and professional dedication. Later, the minister visited the newly constructed emergency block, CT scan machine and the wards of the hospital.

He enquired after the health of the patients and listened to their problems.

Khawaja Imran Nazir expressed satisfaction over the ongoing construction and development work in the hospital, cleanliness and security arrangements.
