FAISALABAD: Five legislators, including MNAs and MPAs, from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have reportedly tendered their resignations from public office on Sunday at a Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference organised by Khawaja Hameeduddin Sialvi in Faisalabad.
Sialvi, a spiritual leader and custodian of Sial Sharif Shrine of Sargodha, is attending the conference at Dhobi Ghat Ground, Faisalabad.
MNAs Dr Nisar Ahmad Jutt and Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, and Punjab MPAs Maulana Rehmatullah, Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi’s nephew Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialvi and Khan Muhammad Baloch announced their resignations protesting government inaction against their demand for the resignation of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. The lawmakers belong to Punjab’s Jhang, Chiniot, Faisalabad and Sargodha districts.
Presenting their resignations to Pir Sialvi – also a leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik, the lawmakers said they will not even hesitate in laying their lives for the noble cause.
“We demand immediate resignations of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah,” they unanimously announced, adding that several other members of assemblies are ready to join them if the demands are not met.
Pir Sialvi, a former senator, had claimed that at least 15 parliamentarians associated with shrine would tender their resignations at the public meeting in Faisalabad.
Addressing the conference, Pir Sialvi that there will be no compromise on the issue of finality of the prophethood, adding that it was an integral part of every Muslim’s faith.
Rejecting the notion that the issue was politically-motivated, Sialvi claimed that he, along with his followers, was striving for the supremacy of shariah, as he warned that anyone who tried to make changes in the said clause would bear the brunt.
A large number of religious leaders, including political figures and people from all walks of life, participated in the conference and vowed to continue their struggle till the supremacy of Shariah in the country.
Meanwhile, PML-N MNA Nisar Jutt gave Pir Sialvi the power to decide his political future, as did MPA Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialvi who said he’s willing to sacrifice thousands of seats for the cause of finality of Prophethood (PBUH).
Earlier this week, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had assured Pir Sialvi that he would visit him shortly and clarify the position and remarks of Rana Sanaullah. However, the chief minister failed to turn up.
Punjab Religious Affairs Minister Zaeem Hussain Qadri and Standing Committee Chairman Malik Waris Kallu had also given a similar assurance to the spiritual leader that Sanaullah would appear before him to clarify his remarks and would resign from the post of minister, if Sanaullah fails to satisfy Pir Sialvi.
“Sialvi Sahib thinks that the chief minister did not bother to heed his demand of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s resignation, therefore, he has announced parting with the PML-N and a Namoos-i-Risalat rally in Faisalabad on Dec 10,” Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialvi had told a local media outlet on Thursday.
