LAHORE: Faisal Ali Khan, a London-based Pakistani expatriate, has approached Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for relief against the alleged harassment to his aged mother by the management of a private housing society in the provincial metropolis.
According to the letter shared here on Sunday, the complainant’s mother is residing alone at the Tariq Gardens. She was harassed and caused mental agony by the goons of the management on the pretext of non-payment of quarterly security and allied services charges despite the fact that she had paid the money on November 1.
The letter further said that the complainant’s mother was threatened to be evicted from her home if she raised voice against the management or its employees. “My mother did not receive the bill for the month of November 2017, for which she sent her driver over to the office of the society. The driver was told that the bill was yet to be generated. Despite many visits to the office, the water bill was not given by the society,” it said.
“My mother took the initiative and still paid the bill on November 1. The committee still sent their goons who threatened to cut the water connection and harassed my old mother despite her showing them the paid receipt,” it said. The letter, with documentary evidence to the Punjab chief minister, alleges that the society management collects money in the name of security and this money is deposited into the personal bank accounts of the owners and the self-proclaimed management.
Faisal Ali Khan further wrote that the act of collecting Rs4,000 from the residents on a quarterly basis against services from the residents of Tariq Gardens without budgetary or administrative control was illegal. He alleged that the management or the committee has never conducted an audit of the money collected from the residents of Tariq Garden.
He sought help from the chief minister as whoever raises concern is subjected to harassment, their TV cable services and utility services are disconnected besides being denied entry to the residential society.
