Customs officials arrest two passengers for carrying gold illegally at Karachi airport

KARACHI: Two passengers were apprehended by customs officials at Jinnah International Airport on Sunday for carrying gold worth more than Rs100 million illegally.

A customs officer disclosed that the passengers were carrying three kilogrammes of gold, for which they had not paid the applicable duty.

According to law, duty is imposed on carrying gold abroad in large quantities. However, the two passengers were trying to transport the precious metal secretly.

An investigation has been initiated against the two suspects and a case has been registered against them.
