The most-awaited bridal show of the year, Hum Bridal Couture Week kick started with a breathtaking opening by Fahad Hussayn who showcased his collection ‘Arth Novelty’. Needless to say; the designer never fails to amaze the audience with his one-of-a-kind collection every fashion week.
The event was attended by the who’s who of the fashion and entertainment industry along with the media persons and journalists.
As Fahad set a bar for the entire fashion week, with his tribute to the Indian classical movie Arth and his support for the Pakistani cinema as he collaborated with the Pakistani remake of the movie. Like always Fahad’s collection was a celebrity affair with the cast of Arth 2 showstopping for the designer. However, Day 1 Show 1 featured Mifrah, Humayun Alamgir, Reema Ahsan and the finale by Aisha Imran. The show was rather a disappointment for the audience, as there was nothing new that came to the ramp.
As the first show concluded, the audience then settled for the second show of the evening which began with a performance by Zoe Viccaji. The performance failed to grab the attention of many, but there were some swaying to Zoe’s voice. What caught the attention of everyone was the stage ramp set up. Kudos to the organizers for giving the audience a ‘shaadi’ feel to it.
Following the performance was Ziggi Menswear showcasing their collection ‘Faris’. From the showcase, one could tell that the military attire was the inspiration behind this collection, with medals accessorizing the outfits. The use of velvets, jerseys and suede was done in a rather unconvincing manner with skin fitted long shirts, sherwani shirts and blazers paired with straight pants. The use of chains and the grey, black, maroon and green colour palette was definitely appealing to the eye.
Next up was Mohsin Naveed Ranjha’s collection ‘Gulab Sandesh’ which stole the hearts of the audience. Staying true to his regal aesthetics, the intricate traditional work on each ensemble with contemporary cuts was done keeping the recent trends in mind and making sure that every bride feels like a royal on her wedding. Moreover, each ensemble was a masterpiece of its own adding a velvet touch to the lehenga cholis. Model Sabeeka Imam confidently walked the ramp in a heavily embellished mint-green trail-dress, while Alyzeh Gabol strutted on the catwalk in a peach saree accessorized with a ‘bindi’ and a ‘matha patti.’ The flowers in the hair also added an ethereal touch to the collection.
The showstopper of the collection, Sajal Aly, stunned in a gorgeous mint blue and light gold off-the-shoulders choli and lengha.
The collection was truly one can definitely give a round of applause for. The men’s collection featured embroidered sherwanis with a turban in golds and blacks.
Following MNR was the second last showcase for the evening by Deepak and Fahad presenting their collection ‘Shaahtaabi’. This was a rather colourful collection as the menswear was all about simple to heavily embroidered sherwanis in matte shades of blues, whites, reds, yellows, blacks and greens which atmost was styled with a shawl. Similarly, the womenswear featured the same colour palette with embellished lehenga cholis and ghararas. Straight shirts and tassels were another trend we noticed in this collection. The traditional yet glamorous ensembles kept the audience hooked the seats.
Lastly, before the first day concluded the ‘Classic 15’ featured veteran designers as they showcase their latest wedding trends. The designers included HSY, Elan, Farah Talib Aziz, Karma, Saniya Maskatiya, Amir Adnan, Nida Azwer, Rana Noman, Mahgul, The House of Kamiar Rokni, Mehdi, Nilofer Shahid, Shamsha Hashwani, Honey Waqar and Republic by Omar Farooq.
Day 1 concluded later than expected, but the fashion week madness isn’t over yet. Stay tuned for more.
