LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) anti-corruption unit on Friday probed into the fast bowler Mohammad Sami’s spot-fixing scandal from the PSL 2017.

A board official told the media that the 36-year-old had been summoned by the Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) for questioning in the matter after receiving information that the player had been involved in the corrupt practice.

Sami who is at present playing for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), appeared before the court on Friday in the light of the allegations.

“The ACU has completed initial investigation of the matter after questioning Sami for two hours”, said PCB Legal Affairs General Manager Salman Naseer while talking to the media. “PCB has not issued a show-cause notice or charge sheet to the player as yet”, the official added.

Sami is also clear to play in the upcoming T10 league which will materialise in Dubai on the 17th of this month.

“Some information was required from Sami, which is why he was summoned,” he said.

Naseer further said that Sami had answered all the questions and had provided the necessary information which ACU head Col (R) Azam Khan would accumulate and analyse to determine whether any action is needful.
