PESHAWAR: A joint search operation of the police and army in the areas of Gulberg and Regi here on Friday resulted in the arrest of 18 suspects.
According to media reports, the police and army, on a tip-off, conducted a search operation of houses and recovered weapons and explosives from there.
On the other hand, 19 suspicious persons were taken into police custody. Overall 80 houses were searched during the operation and an inquiry was launched against four people in violation of the rent act.
It is vital to mention here that terror-related incidents have increased in Peshawar during the last couple of days as 9 people died while 32 others were injured in a terrorist attack on the agricultural university directorate on December 1st, while additional IG Headquarters, Muhammad Ashraf Noor along with his protector were killed in a bomb blast near Zarghoni mosque in Hayatabad.
