Won’t let anyone do politics over dead bodies: Hamza Shehbaz

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz talking to media on Thursday stated,”We stand for democracy in the country and won’t let anyone do politics on dead bodies”.

Hamza Shehbaz called Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri an ‘enemy of democracy’ and said that “people will hold the enemy of democracy, Tahirul Qadri, accountable,” adding that people must remember the language used by Qadri in his 2014 Islamabad sit-in.

While talking to media after visiting walled city, Hamza Shehbaz said that people gave a mandate to Mian Nawaz Sharif who fulfilled all his promises from ending loadshedding to bringing peace and prosperity to the country.

Replying to journalist’s questions, Hamza Shehbaz negated the verdict of Asif Zardari and Imran Khan and said that we should let the people decide the next government through their votes and the masses would rightly decide.

Hamza Shehbaz said that present government had undertaken development in the country and that people are satisfied with the performance of PML-N while other parties did nothing for the common man.

The PML-N leader, who is the son of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, said that Qadri is a Canadian citizen and owns properties there, adding that the Punjab government has made public the Model Town judicial inquiry report.

At least 14 people were killed and 100 others injured in police action against PAT workers during an ‘anti-encroachment operation’ on June 17, 2014.

Hamza Shehbaz stated, “People who were martyred were our people. I have deep regret for their martyrdom.”

Earlier, Hamza Shehbaz visited the residence of party workers Farkhanda Maalik and Shabeer Bhola and offered fateha.

He paid tributes to the political and party services of Farkhanda Maalik and prayed for her departed soul. Lahore PML-N Secretary Information Imran Ali Goraya and Political Secretary Kabeer Taaj were present among many party workers who chanted slogans and gave a warm welcome to Hamza Shehbaz  during his visit to the walled city
