Kidnapped boy recovered after payment of ransom

KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) safely recovered Wednesday night a boy kidnapped earlier in the day from DHA’s 26 Street during an operation carried out in the city’s Gulistan-e-Johar area, it said in a statement.

Muhammad Abban, 5, was abducted “while returning home from school with his mother in a car from the jurisdiction of Darakhshan Police Station”, CPLC said, adding that the kidnappers demanded  Rs150 million payment as ransom.

A “deal was finalised at Rs3 lacs (Rs300,000)”, CPLC Sindh Chief Zubair Habib said.

Earlier in the day, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair took immediate notice of the incident, advising the CPLC and other concerned law enforcement authorities (LEAs) to recover the child safely as soon as possible.

In this regard, a search team, comprising of the CPLC, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), Rangers Special Task Cell (RSTC), Rangers, and police started an investigation once the kidnappers called, demanding ransom.

Later, an operation was conducted and the boy was recovered.
