HED providing equal opportunities for youth development: Raza Gillani

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Higher Education, Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that the provincial government is striving for education, training and character building of the youth so that Pakistan could get the best leadership in different sectors.

The provincial minister stated this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the Unique Group of Institutions here in Al-Hamra Hall on Thursday.

The function was attended by talented students, faculty members and a large number of people related to the education sector.

In his keynote address, Raza Gillani said that it is mandatory to have cooperation between public and private sector institutions for a better-educated nation. He said that the higher education department is supporting students through several programs like laptop distribution, scholarship awards and co-curricular activities.

The provincial minister said that keeping in view the significance of a highly qualified faculty, the government has established a teachers’ training academy. He also said that thousands of lecturers and assistant professors have been appointed all over Punjab this year.

Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that a comprehensive higher education policy is being finalized to ensure that Pakistani universities could be developed as international standard institutions of research and innovation where quality education could help the students to excel. In the first phase, it is my mission to bring five top public sector universities of the Punjab in the QS Ranking and the government is committed to providing equal opportunities of getting a high-quality education to the youth.

He said that research and higher education are the basic component of development as the developed world has achieved pinnacles of glory in the comity of the nations with their high-quality system of higher education which is the agent of change and accelerated development.
