KARACHI: The 13th Karachi International Book Fair began in Karachi’s Expo Centre here on Thursday.
The international book fair, which is one of the biggest in Pakistan, is stocked with books of all sort from more than 250 publishers from Pakistan, as well as, 15 international publishers from Turkey, Singapore, Britain and India.
The book fair is a 5-day long event that will go on every day until December 11 from 9 am to 9 pm.
The book fair convener, Owais Mirza Jameel, observed that the advent of technology and reading devices had not eliminated the need for books. “There are still many people who enjoy holding a book in their hand and then reading it,” he said while speaking at the opening ceremony.
“Books in physical form are still quite popular among the readers,” he added, quoting it the reason why the book fair was a popular event every year.
The fair brings bibliophiles, authors and renowned publishers together on one platform every year, giving them the opportunity to rub elbows with each other while browsing and buying books together.
