LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that a lot of opportunities for allied health professionals are available in the specialised healthcare and medical education as well as in Primary and Secondary Health Department of the province.
He stated this while addressing the first Convocation of Children Hospital & Institute of Child Health’s Allied Health Sciences School at Pearl Continental on Thursday.
While addressing the convocation, Khawaja Salman Rafique assured that separate councils for allied health professionals will be built on the pattern of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).
Degrees were awarded among the 350 graduates. 24 medals and 125 certificates were distributed to the students showing outstanding performance.
In his welcome address, Professor Masood Sadiq informed that due to the personal interest and provision of funds generously by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Children Hospital has become the largest children hospital in the region having 1,100 beds.
He further stated that Institute of Child Health was providing educational and training facilities in 43 specialities, providing degree and diploma courses. He disclosed that so far 850 allied health professionals have completed their education from the institution and were serving the country and outside in the world.
Higher Education Commission Chairman Professor Nizam ud Din speaking at the convocation stated that allied health professionals have an international identity and that there is a huge demand for allied health professionals all over the world.
