  • Justice Iqbal directs divisions to file application for early hearing of 1138 under trial corruption reference

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal on Wednesday sought complete details of inquiries, investigations and under trial corruption references filed in the respective accountability courts and also sought a report from the Operation and Prosecution Divisions of the bureau.

He sought the details of as many as 499 inquiries, 287 investigations and 1,138 under trial corruption references filed by NAB in the respective courts, said a press release issued here. The NAB chairman wanted to know that why these cases had not been concluded in the 10-month prescribed time period as per NAB SOP.

He also wanted to know what action had been taken against the responsible officers on failure to conclude logically all under process cases within the speculated time period as per the law and had been sought about a failure to inquire and investigate the cases.

He directed the divisions concerned to file an application for early hearing of 1138 under trial corruption reference so that over Rs 900 billion money could be recovered from the corrupt, deposited in the national exchequer and the corrupt could be brought to justice as per the law.
