Major Shabbir Sharif’s 46th martyrdom anniversary to be observed today

LAHORE: Major Shabbir Sharif’s 46th martyrdom anniversary is being observed today. He was among those remarkable army officers who fought in the major wars of 1965 and 1971.

Major Shabbir Sharif was awarded Nishan-e-Haider posthumously for his exceptional level of valour and strength in the war of 1971. He had an exceptional military career and got Sitara-e-Jurrat in 1965 and received Sword of Honor from Kakul Academy.

Major Shabbir Sharif is the brother of Raheel Sharif who was the former chief of army staff in Pakistan and is at present the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition Commander-in-Chief.

Major Shabbir Sharif’s family will be visiting his grave in Miani Sahib Graveyard. Army contingents have taken hold of the graveyard for security and snipers have also been deployed on the buildings in surroundings.
