Chinese staff to supervise Orange Line Metro Train for five years: Punjab CM’s adviser

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Adviser Khawaja Ahmad Hassan on Wednesday said Chinese staff will control and supervise the functioning of the Orange Line Metro Train for the period of five years.

Kh Hassan, who is also the chairman of the steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (OMTP), said that the Chinese staff would impart training to the local staff, which would enable them to operate the train system after the said period.

During the meeting, he said that all the 27 train sets for the Orange Line were manufactured in China, and would be shipped to Pakistan in view of the availability of space for parking the rolling stock.

Another three sets had been unloaded at the Karachi Port while four more sets were being currently shipped from Shanghai Port of China, he added. Three train sets have already reached Lahore and parked at depot at Dera Gujjran.

Kh Hassan directed for expediting finishing work at Islam Park and Salamatpura Metro Stations, which were being set up as model stations.

A high-level delegation of Communist Party of China would visit Lahore on December 9 and also visit the site of orange line project, he disclosed.

NESPAK General Manager Salman Hafeez informed the meeting that 78.2 per cent of the civil work, besides 32  per cent electrical and mechanical work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project had also been completed so far.
