Role of educational institutions for awareness about human rights is very important: Sandhu

Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that December 10 is known as the International Day of Human Rights and we have to make arrangements from right now to make it memorable.

He said that to educate people of Pakistan about their rights was the top priority of Human Rights Department. He expressed these views while chairing a departmental meeting in Human Rights Office here on Monday. HRMA Secretary Asim Iqbal and other officers were also present on the occasion. The minister said that December 10 is always celebrated every year in all over the Pakistan and we have to work on a special campaign from December 6 till 10, so that the people could know their rights.

He directed the officials of department that especially in Lahore City, banners and flaxes should be displayed on the roads. The minister said that role of educational institutions was very important for awareness of human rights. He directed HRMA secretary to make arrangements of the speech competitions in all over the Punjab. He further directed to ensure the representation of Punjab’s private and public universities in competitions to convey a clear message across the world that how much importance was being given to rights of common man by the Punjab government.
